14. Tris Speaker

Tris Speaker trained for many seasons in Hot Springs beginning with the Boston Red Sox in 1909 and was a familiar face around the Spa City. A Freemason, Speaker spent a good portion of his free time at the Masonic Lodge Building located at the corner of Court and Exchange Streets. The Masons erected this three story brick building as headquarters of their fraternal organization in Hot Springs.

Speaker, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame's second induction class, finished his playing career with a .345 batting average and 792 doubles, a record that still stands 84 years after his playing days ended.
